The kitchen is a building where the food used to feed the teaching staff is stored and prepared. The cook staff live in the building during the school year. The money spent to feed the teaching staff is a significant cost to our ministry. The current kitchen barely protects the food that is stored there from the elements and from insects and rodents. The existing kitchen has a dirt floor, the cooking fire is an open fire on the ground and the smoke exits through holes and cracks in the log siding and the roof. Hope 4 The Children has plans to construct a proper kitchen with masonry walls and floor. The kitchen will include a solid door with a lock, a fireplace for cooking with a chimney that vents out of the building, storage shelves where the food is kept safe and dry and a private room for the cook to sleep with a bed and linens.
